What the New York Mets have been able to do this season despite having to deal with Jacob deGrom and Max Scherzer being on the injury list is certainly impressive. The Mets made some great offseason moves throughout the 2021-2022 offseason and those moves are surely paying off for them. It's to be expected that they're going to make even more at the trade deadline.

Steve Cohen isn't afraid to spend, so you know the Mets are going to get better.

Mets Are Playing Elite Baseball Despite Injuries

The New York Mets are currently 45-24 and are already 5.5 games ahead of the second-place Atlanta Braves in the National League East. The Braves are only 5.5 games back because they just went on a 14-game winning streak. Unlike the Mets, the Braves shouldn't be able to continue finding success at this elite of a level.

The Mets are undoubtedly one of the top three teams in baseball right now and it would be likely if they end up winning the division, especially when they get their guys back and healthy.

Who Could They Add?

New York has a few different ways that they can go about their trade deadline. They might decide to go out and get a starting pitcher because of Max Scherzer and Jacob deGrom not being 100% healthy, but they're also going to be going after a few relievers as well. One reliever that has been mentioned a few times for them is Lou Trivino.

Trivino has struggled this year, but prior to this season, he's been regarded as one of the better relief pitchers in baseball. Lou Trivino should be able to continue finding success once he gets back to a contending team.

When Is The Trade Deadline?

The MLB trade deadline is August 2nd. In years past, it was usually July 31st, but this year, it's going to be on July 2nd.

These Added Moves Could Make Them The Best In Baseball

If the New York Mets do go out and make some moves to a better their bullpen, there's going to be a legitimate argument that they're going to be the best team in all of baseball.

This team has been clicking on all cylinders and even without these moves once they get healthy, they're going to be at the top of the National League come playoff time. The Mets should be able to find plenty of success towards the back end of the year and even potentially win a World Series if things go right.
